Shed lights on investment opportunities in various sectors Turkey Expo 2018 aims to boost exports to Qatar for $5 bln
A high profile trade fair was held in Doha aims to help Turkish companies increase their share of Qatar’s imports. The official opening ceremony of the three-day trade fair, has been organized in collaboration with Turkey’s Independent Industrialist and Businessmen Association (MÜS?AD), which held on January, 17, 2018, with the participation of Turkish Customs and Trade Minister Bülent Tüfenkçi, Qatari Economy and Commerce Minister Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim al Thani, MÜS?AD chair Abdurrahman Kaan and Rifat Hisarc?kl?o?lu, head of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB). Expo Turkey 2018 brought together more than 110 Turkish companies from a range of seven sectors, including: food, information technology, furniture & Interior Décor, health, infrastructure and construction transportation and agriculture and real estate.
The event aims to transform both Turkey and Qatar into regional hubs for economic cooperation by establishing bases for joint investment and promoting the development of relations in all fields.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, bilateral meetings and working sessions on investment opportunities and incentives in Turkey were held, in order to strengthen the commercial partnership between the public and private sectors. A number of representatives of both governments and businessmen participated in the event.
Qatari Economy and Commerce Minister Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim al Thani, said the event reflects the keenness of Qatar and Turkey to establish practical mechanisms to develop the of economic cooperation level, increase trade volume and explore innovative and promising horizons to open new fields to enhance joint investments.
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim added that this joint cooperation will create a special strategic economic partnership in line with the existing market potential of more than 185 million people, which could be further expanded to reach over 400 million consumers in the region and beyond The Trade Minister pointed out that about 40 Turkish companies entered the Qatari market in the second half of last year 2017, in addition to about 400 companies that were working before. He added that the volume of trade exchange witnessed a significant increase during 2017, which amounted to about 30 percent to reach about 4 billion riyals Trade between the two countries during
the current year 2018.
The Minister of Economy and Trade added that 120 Turkish companies were participating in the exhibition, which reflects the great interest of the Turkish and Qatari sides to enhance cooperation between them and take them to a wider horizons, especially after the conclusion of more agreements that encourage investment and trade exchange between the two sides.
He pointed out that there is a trend towards Turkish investment in the State of Qatar, especially in the field of manufacturing, especially food, building materials and medicines.
